Iron Man Power Suit #38 | 3D-Printed Arc Reactor | James Bruton

This is the second part about my 3D-Printed Arc Reactor prop. More pictures at: http://xrobots.co.uk/arc2/

The biggest challenge making your own Iron Man power suit – that you can actually wear! – is how much detail. Every expects it to look accurate in terms of colour and shaping, and if you’re going to get inside it latches, strapping and so on is a must but… what else? Do you motorise the faceplate? How much lighting and depth do you give the unibeam? What kind of flexibility and motion do the knees, knuckles and neck need? Well, hopefully you’ll agree I went all out on this Iron Man build. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Make an Iron Man Arc Reactor for Tony Stark Cosplay – DIY Ultra Thin Wearable with LEDs

Blue LED String: http://amzn.to/2eg90hm

I really feel like Tony Stark with this easy to make Arc Reactor that won’t break your budget! It’s not meant to be pretty looking but it looks good when it’s under your shirt. It’s powered by AA batteries and a string of LED lights so it won’t get hot against your chest. And it’s super thin! I don’t really like costume parties but the Arc Reactor is impressive and it’s virtually unnoticeable when the lights are off. The main part of the Arc Reactor is made of CDs or DVDs. I used a regular sized DVD and a mini-CD-R disc. Also, we will need the clear filler disc found at the bottom of every stack of blank discs.

Once it’s under a shirt, the Arc Reactor is super thin an unnoticeable! I think everyone can follow along with this easy Arc Reactor tutorial. The only thing you really have to buy is the LED string lights. I got mine from Amazon (see link below for the ones I got). Remember you only need the string with 20 LEDs. I will also leave a link where you can download the paper guide I used at the beginning of the video.

Real Arc Reactor (ionized plasma generator)

The first 200 people to sign up with this link and get 20% off their premium subscription! https://brilliant.org/Hacksmith

Is it real? Well, it’s a real “arc” reactor that generates plasma, but as we explained in the beginning of the video, it’s impossible to create a device that uses less power than it produces due to the Conservation of Energy, a fundamental law of physics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy (summarised as energy in = energy out + losses.)

When we charge the phone, it’s just using power from the main battery. Plugging it into the house – also just a skit. Sorry to get your hopes up! But one thing is for certain – it’s the most realistic arc reactor ever made – at least compared to the CGI one in the movie.
