This Iron Man arc reactor looks amazingly realistic when finished, but it’s actually very easy to make. It can be put together with just a few simple materials for around $5. No metal cutting, soldering, or electrical wiring required.
You can get the free Mark VI Iron Man arc reactor pdf template at: http://www.TheWoodlandElf.com/patterns/ironman
**Edit: Walmart has since stopped carrying the finger lights, but they can still be gotten here from Amazon: http://amzn.to/2gA25Ci

Here is an early test video of the flip-up visor for my son’s Iron Man: Hulkbuster costume from Halloween 2015.
The visor is pulled up by a length of picture frame wire that runs across the inside top of the helmet. The other end of the wire is wrapped around a spool that is attached to a motor found in the “LEGO Technic Power Function Accessory box” I bought from Amazon for approx. $28.
The motor is activated by the “LEGO Functions Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control” (less than $20).
Originally, I wanted the remote to be hidden inside my son’s costume & for him to activate the visor whenever he wanted but the IR remote needs to have direct line of sight w the sensor & our early test discovered the remote is too difficult/sensitive to operate without looking at it. We moved the sensor to the back of the costume & it works well for me to operate the remote when standing behind him.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Quite a few people have asked about our Iron Man costume, since it’s seen in the background of a lot of my tutorials, so this is a little video basically explaining how our Iron Man costume was made. Just an explanation, not an actual tutorial, since we don’t really want to have to make this thing again; it took months the first time (And yes, you could probably play a drinking game with the number of times I say “um” in this video). You can download the pepakura viewer and designer (you’ll need both) here: http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/download/index.html (I don’t think they have it available for Mac users yet).
And the patterns used for this suit can be downloaded here: http://www.pepakura.eu/all/iron-man-mark-4-6-full-armor-foam/
