Carbonfiber Skinning or Wrapping Tutorial – Ironman & Spiderman Mask

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MAT2COMPOSITES
Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/matthieutje65
Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/matthieulibeert

Instructables written tutorial: http://www.instructables.com/id/Carbonfiber-Ironman-Spiderman-mask-skinningwrappin/
_______________________________________________

In this extended video tutorial I’ll explain you how you can skin any part you found around you with carbonfiber – carbon fiber (fibre).
By skinning parts you will add carbonfiber on top of your original part. By doing so you will add weight, but you will also add stiffness to your part. You can compare skinning parts with carbonfiber with flattening parts before paint with bondo. You add layer after layer and sand inbetween to get a high gloss finish at the end. In this tutorial all materials used are from easy composites. You can find their website down below, as well as direct links to the products you will need. They also did a skinning tutorial you can find on following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rTWaV1imzs

Step by step I’ll go through the following in this video:
– Chose your part
– Sand and Clean your parts
– Add a basecoat
– Wrap or skin your part with dry carbonfiber
– Vacuumbag
– Add epoxy resin and sand
– Clearcoat
– Finish and final look

Iron Man Power Suit #3 | Casting Armour Pieces | James Bruton

This video shows how I made a my Iron Man suit pieces.

The biggest challenge making your own Iron Man power suit – that you can actually wear! – is how much detail. Every expects it to look accurate in terms of colour and shaping, and if you’re going to get inside it latches, strapping and so on is a must but… what else? Do you motorise the faceplate? How much lighting and depth do you give the unibeam? What kind of flexibility and motion do the knees, knuckles and neck need? Well, hopefully you’ll agree I went all out on this Iron Man build. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

① GENIUS

No MacArthur grant yet. But while I’m still waiting by the phone for that call, maybe you might patronise me with your Patreon-age. Or, if you’re all out of digital cash just comment on one of my hilarious Instagram pics, pop me a Tweet or generally yell in my direction.

② XROBOTS

Former toy designer, current YouTube maker and general robotics, electrical and mechanical engineer, I’m a fan of doing it yourself and innovation by trial and error. My channel is where I share some of my useful and not-so-useful inventions, designs and maker advice. Iron Man is my go-to cosplay, and 3D printing can solve most issues – broken bolts, missing parts, world hunger, you name it.

XRobots is the community around my content where you can get in touch, share tips and advice, and more build FAQs, schematics and designs are also available.

DIY Cheap and Easy Iron Man Arc Reactor that Really Glows

This Iron Man arc reactor looks amazingly realistic when finished, but it’s actually very easy to make. It can be put together with just a few simple materials for around $5. No metal cutting, soldering, or electrical wiring required.

You can get the free Mark VI Iron Man arc reactor pdf template at: http://www.TheWoodlandElf.com/patterns/ironman

**Edit: Walmart has since stopped carrying the finger lights, but they can still be gotten here from Amazon: http://amzn.to/2gA25Ci

Hope you enjoy this tutorial. If you have any questions or requests for future tutorials, feel free to leave me a comment below. I post a new cosplay tutorial every Thursday and a new crafting tutorial every other Monday, so check back next week for more DIY goodness.
